In its initial configuration, the system provides 64 × 64 audio channels and up to 64 buses, with a future expansion to up to 256 channels planned. Physical audio I/O can be connected flexibly via NEXUS compact or AXIO. The control surface itself requires no local audio processing and is powered via PoE.

Essential functions such as routing, monitoring, and DSP processing can be controlled locally or remotely via the central web interface and virtual panel. This allows ON AIR to be used both as a conventional radio console and as a networked control position.

Concept

ON AIR is a modular, scalable radio console system designed for self-op studios, regional broadcasters, and networked radio infrastructures. The control surface can be configured with six to 24 motorized faders to suit different studio and workstation sizes.

The control surface and audio processing are completely separate. The external, ARM-based NEX:T core handles mixing, signal processing, and routing, while the ON AIR control surface is powered via PoE. This keeps the workstation compact and allows it to be positioned independently of the processing and audio I/O.

With IP integration and a centralized web interface, ON AIR can be operated locally or remotely and integrated into networked radio workflows. Whether in a self-op studio, an auxiliary studio, a decentralized editorial workstation, or for centralcasting: the system combines hands-on operation with centralized configuration and control.

Connected for auxiliary studios and centralcasting.
The compact, PoE-powered control surface and network connectivity via AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110-30 enable deployment in auxiliary studios, at decentralized editorial workstations, and in centrally managed radio studios. Configuration and operation can be performed independently of location via the network.

  • On-air workflows: Standardized on-air logic, N-1 mix-minus, talkback, PFL, multiple monitoring and headphone paths, and loudness metering compliant with EBU R128 and ITU-R BS.1770.
  • IP integration: AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110-30, seamless media redundancy in accordance with SMPTE ST 2022-7, synchronization via PTPv2, word clock, or internal sync, and web-based configuration of audio streams.
  • Flexible operation: Direct control from the console or centrally via the web interface and Virtual Panel. Interfaces enable integration with radio automation and centralized control systems.
