NEXUS STAR Card RMDQ

RMDQ is the DSP on which the state-of-the-art audio algorithms for which STAGETEC's mixing consoles are famous for. The DSP is scalable with up to seven cards depending on the resource requirements, which makes the calculation of up to 800 audio channels possible. All audio processing functions of the respective configuration are always available; the user never has to worry about resource availability and individual functions per channel. DSP redundancy can be configured individually for each project on request.

NEXUS – RMDQ – The concept:

As a pioneer of digital audio mixing consoles, STAGETEC now has more than 25 years of experience in the field of digital audio signal processing. The RMDQ cards are the current generation of DSP cards, and the quality of the algorithms and the well-considered implementation of the finest details has always been a top priority for the developers at STAGETEC. For RMDQ cards, the audiophile result is not only defined by the 40-bit floating point arithmetic; it is rather achieved by the overall concept. Instead of psychoacoustic simulations, STAGETEC is known for the greatest possible neutrality in signal processing.

The DSPs on the cards do the finest work with precisely tuned EQ curves, detailed adjustment options and the most inconspicuous response of the dynamic units. However, all processing blocks still allow considerable interference to the signal; for EQs, for example, with +/-24 dB or a delay of 2.7 seconds per channel. It should be noted that the speed of audio processing and distribution in the system is much faster than with competing products. Considering global delay compensation is completely unnecessary, especially since the signal processing architecture on the RMDQ boards is designed in such a way that phase deviations within the mixing consoles cannot occur at all. But the attention to detail does not stop there. For example, all settings are always in the form of crossfades. Every change to an EQ, every adjustment to a delay and even the mute function are executed by the RMDQ boards as a very short fade.

On the hardware level, it was also important to keep energy consumption and heat development as low as possible for the RMDQ cards. The cards can be connected up to seven in one system, whereby the user can decide per project whether he wants to keep one card as redundancy or needs the entire computing power of all cards for the project.

As with all STAGETEC products, backward compatibility and interoperability is an important criterion. RMDQ cards can be used as a 1:1 replacement or as a supplement in systems with the predecessor card generation RMD in order to enable the expansion of existing systems without the need for a complete new purchase.

NEXUS – RMDQ – Features:

Backward compatibility with RMD cards The latest generation of the audio processing board can also be integrated into existing systems with RMD cards and take over the functions of such. This allows a smooth transition to the new system.

Can be used in mixing systems with RMD cards In a system with mainly RMD cards, an RMDQ card can be inserted. It then has the range of functions of an RMD module.

DSP for mixing console signal processing The real-time signal processors, which are responsible for calculating the mixer signals, have their place on the RMDQ card. As the number of these modules increases, so does the output of the mixing console.
