XSDI
The Embedder/Deembedder Board for Audio in SDI Video Signals
With the XSDI card, audio signals can be extracted from a digital SDI video data stream, replaced and simultaneously embedded again.

With the XSDI card, audio signals can be extracted from a digital SDI video data stream, replaced and simultaneously embedded again. The XSDI video card is an audio de-embedder and embedder for video signals according to the SMPTE-259M (SDI) standard. All 16 audio channels packed in the video data stream can be read and written. Different modes such as De-Embed, Embed, Replace, Bypass and Delete allow flexible handling of the embedded audio data. The unpacked channels can be used freely in the NEXUS routing matrix. To be able to adjust the levels as soon as you enter the system, a DSP is provided on the module. The image-sound offset that occurs during separate audio-video processing can be compensated by means of delay. Requantisation can be activated for audio formats with a different word width, such as 20 or 16 bit. Dithering and noise shaping are of course available. An integrated video test image generator helps when setting up new systems or troubleshooting.
The XSDI board is available in two versions: with three BNC connectors for Video In and 2x Video Out and alternatively with a BNC input, a BNC output and a bidirectional SFP port, which connects to an optical fiber with LC-duplex connectors using various modules. Optionally, the board can be equipped with sample rate converters to operate the NEXUS system in a different clock to the audio signals from the video source.
Adjustable Digital Gain in the Inputs
To adjust the levels, a digital gain is implemented for each channel of the inputs.
Adjustable Delay for Delay Compensation Compared to the Video
An adjustable delay can compensate for the image/sound offset that can result from separate processing.
Integrated Test Pattern Generator
Setup or troubleshooting supports an integrated test generator that generates a color bar in NTSC or PAL format. The pattern is output via the BNC or fiber optic connector.
Integrated DSP
If the word width is reduced during requesting, an integrated DSP calculates a dither to reduce rounding errors. Switchable noise shaping shifts the noise energy in the ear in less sensitive areas.
Optional Sample Rate Converter
Optionally, a sampling rate converter can be installed on the XSDI board to process incoming and outgoing signals asynchronously to the Nexus clock.
