The CRESCENDO Central Control - Everything in Access

As an alternative to working in the operating strip, the CRESCENDO's interface concept allows operation via the central cassette, which provides direct and extremely fast access to almost all functions of the mixing console.

In total, all mixing console functions are distributed over just two cassettes, thus saving space and providing a clear overview.

The Monitor Cassette

crescendo Monitor KassetteIn addition to the extensive monitor and talk functions, this cassette also contains other functions, such as layer and function switching of the control strips.

Any source can be freely selected in the Monitor section to be listened to directly afterwards. Not only sums, groups, AUX paths and other buses can be selected flexibly, but any NEXUS input can also be selected using freely labeled user monitoring buttons. The display framed by the keys provides a good overview. The layer area offers a further, generous display for the selection of the current front and back layers from the eight layers available for free assignment. This switching is done globally for the entire interface. Separate keys are available to specifically exclude one of the first three cassettes. Right next to them are the keys for desk-wide switching of the function assignment of all multifunction encoders in the channels. The lower left to middle section contains 40 user keys that can be assigned any functions from the extensive NEXUS logic control system. In the theatre version of the CRESCENDO, eight keys are used to operate the scene automation system. Another key is usually programmed for switching the picture input from the central display between the level indicators and the console's internal configuration PC.

The Channel Cassette

crescendo Channel KassetteFor sound editing, it is not necessary to reach into the channel cassette, as all frequently used functions are located directly in the channel control strip. However, there is an alternative type of operation available in the central cassette, each with its own Dynamic, Equalizer, Auxiliaries section and associated rotary encoders for each parameter. Colored OLED displays next to it show the set parameters and support exact audio processing by high-resolution displays of the compressor and equalizer.

The central channel module is indispensable above all for advanced settings, which are usually only required for setting up a project.

The routing is located in the middle and allows a channel to be connected to a bus in two simple steps: first the type is selected via a key, i.e. sum, group, M-S, link, mute, N-1 group or aux, and then all available buses of this type are displayed on the left side of the display. The right side allows the selection of additional functions, e.g. for a link group which properties should be linked or for aux paths the VCA bypass function.

Access to the preset libraries for individual audio parameters or entire channels is located in the middle directly below. The Select tool, which is equipped with a rotary encoder and display, can be used to assign a specific channel to the channel cassette. The lower ring of the encoder switches between categories, such as input, sum or AUX channels, where the upper ring switches from one channel to the next.

NEXUS parameters such as subsonic filters or microphone input gain can be controlled in the Input section.

Last but not least, the intuitive snapshot automation is placed in the channel cassette. Dedicated keys enable extensive loading masks and, in combination with an encoder, ensure safe, simple operation.
