A New NEXUS Feature: Programmable GPIs

STAGETEC presented their NEXUS digital audio router with enhanced functionality and new hardware options. Comprehensive user programming of GPI functions is a particularly noteworthy innovation. GPIs (General Purpose Interfaces) are used to control red-light switching and manifold other external control functions. GPIs have always been available, but hitherto only as factory pre-sets. The latest generation of NEXUS makes these functions flexible. Now even complex conditional connections can now be programmed and modified on the spot!
The new logic functions Edit window enables every single XRI input and output (NEXUS relay interface) within the system to be defined. The output may be, for example, a TTL voltage or a switched external control voltage. Various parameters ranging from the status of NEXUS internal cross-points, other system settings or external relay signals are all legitimate input criteria.
Up to four input criteria can be combined using Boolean operators to toggle up to four outputs. This can be stored as a single logical function. Cascading these functions enables highly complex logical sequences to be programmed.
Functions are easily defined using a graphic flow diagram - the user just needs to define the criteria.
This is just one of many new features provided by the NEXUS Matrix 5 software in combination with the new CPU. Moreover, although both the software and the processor were originally developed for the NEXUS STAR, they can now be used with classic NEXUS systems.
