Stage Tec Celebrates 15th Anniversary
On 1 July 1993, Stage Tec Entwicklungsgesellschaft für professionelle Audiotechnik mbH was established by 13 engineers backed by a competent partner as some kind of employee co-operative. Since, the enterprise specialised in developing digital audio systems has set countless new benchmarks thanks to continuous research and development.
NEXUS, the first digital audio router based on a decentralised concept with consistent fibre-optic networking introduced in 1993, the multi-award winning CANTUS mixing console system presented in 1994, and the AURUS Direct Access Console launched in 2002 – are milestones on the road to a creative utilisation of digital technology. The latest innovation is the AURATUS compact production console – 24 units were sold to the WDR broadcasting service in the very year of its release.
Superlative sound quality and ultimate reliability in professional use is the norm for all Stage Tec products. 40-bit floating-point arithmetic and 32-bit TrueMatch converters are standard features along with automatic self-test routines, hot-swap capable components, redundant power-supply units and fibre-optic lines. Distributed intelligence confers further security by ensuring there is no single point of failure that would disable the complete system.
At Stage Tec, the software and hardware domains are inextricably linked. Highly optimized hardware demands purpose-built software solutions. Stage Tec relies on its own skills and expertise. The entire software, the algorithms employed in the individual DSP building blocks and the control programs with their graphical user interfaces, all come from the in-house software-development department.
Still today, all founder members are active partners in the company and carry responsibility for continuing innovation and efficiency. They are supported by a staff of currently 37 employees. The entire organisation together with their families celebrated the anniversary with a jaunt to the Spreewald.
