AES 2006 Product News: AURUS Software Release 2.5

XMIC+ for NEXUS featuring eight 28-bit microphone inputs to be presented at the AES Convention in Paris

Paris (France), May 2006: AURUS users from the show and theatre areas are looking forward to a new automation feature offered by the latest AURUS software release 2.5: An extended scene-automation capable of handling not only audio parameters but also the layer functionality of the AURUS is presented at the AES Convention 2006 in Paris. This is complemented by functionalities for using VCAs and DCAs and the integration of the SnapMix function introduced last year, which is particularly interesting for live use.

When it comes to live productions, layers are one of the major benefits of a digital desk: Preset surface layouts are available at the touch of a button; critical controls of each scene are within reach. The new software release 2.5 enhances the AURUS scene-automation facility by freely configurable virtual layers, allowing for having different channel assignments available with each snapshot. Thus, at every scene change, the console’s surface can be customized to the user’s individual convenience within no time! »Especially with lavish show productions, mixing tasks are highly complex and change with every scene. With the integration of layers into the scene-automation, the AURUS meets those requirements even better. This complies with the demands, in particular, of customers using the AURUS for live and FOH applications,« says STAGETEC’s sound-reinforcement expert Christian Fuchs.

Together with the SnapMix function presented last year the AURUS now offers unsurpassed automation features for live mixing tasks. SnapMix allows for storing dynamic processes as partial mixes and integrating them into the scene-automation as individual events to be started by pressing a key. The AURUS internal timecode is used as sync source. The functionality is extremely useful for productions with a precise event flow – for example, musicals.
