AES 2006: DELEC’s New Logic

New multidimensional logic module for DELEC intercom systems / Solid start into the business year 2006

Paris (France), May 2006: DELEC, Germany’s manufacturer of digital intercom systems and member of the SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP, showcases a complex logic module for their IcconXP configuration software at the AES Convention in Paris. IcconXP is convenient GUI software running under Windows XP used for setting up ORATIS and CENTRIX systems by DELEC. In addition to the actual intercom functions, these systems provide for extensive control of external functions – from signal functions to prioritised subscriber hierarchies to highly complex studio set-ups. In IcconXP, logic circuits can be created with no need for extensive programming skills: Using the mouse, logic gates and flip-flops are selected, placed on a graphical interface, and interconnected in a multidimensional fashion. The thus created »control diagram« can be stored for use as a template to be subsequently populated with actual values (i.e. hardware components such as keys, GPIs, or ports). A set of standard functionalities including, for example, priority circuits, is included for immediate use or as a starting point for creating custom functionalities. The provided logic editor is a powerful tool, which is not only perfect for broadcasting centres or OB vehicles but also provides unlimited potential to theatre applications with their complex red-light functions.

Besides the further development of IcconXP, DELEC also reports a really successful start into the business year 2006: By the turn of the year, the central radio office and two broadcasting complexes at the Munich Broadcasting Centre of the BR (Bayerischer Rundfunk) broadcasting service were completed. A big ORATIS system with 240 ports and MADI connectivity to the central audio router is now in operation there. DELEC also supplied intercom systems for the Freimann 3 TV-production studio of the BR where DELEC systems had already been in use in two other studios. Test runs will start shortly. In addition, after a construction-related one-year delay, the first stage of the system at the new BBC headquarters in London was taken into operation. With its 1,100 ports, that system is already now a superlative in the world of intercom; when the second stage will be finished, it will provide amazing 3,000 ports.

About DELEC

Based in Göllheim, Germany, DELEC develops and produces high-quality digital communication and intercom technology for use in broadcasting, TV-production, and theatres. Founded in 1988, DELEC has continuously advanced its position on the international market. Today, DELEC intercom systems are utilised by numerous high-profile clients such as the BBC or Radio Vatican both for in-house installations and outside broadcasting. DELEC became a member of SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP in 2002.
With ORATIS, DELEC provides a fully digital intercom system with unique functionality and almost unlimited scalability. ORATIS is build-up completely modular on a 19'' rack system with plug-in cards. Each rack may accommodate up to six intercom cards and thus provides routing capacity for up to 256 subscriber units. Large campus-wide systems can be set up using the CENTRIX central intercom router. With CENTRIX, installations with a maximum of 2,048 ports can be realized – and can be cascaded and mirrored for even larger installations.
