AES 2005 News: STAGETEC Presents AURUS Software Update 2.2

AURUS high-end digital console enhanced with more go-faster control and management facilities

Barcelona, June 2005: At this year's AES in Barcelona, STAGETEC has introduced a configuration-software update for AURUS, its live broadcast and production mixing console system. The new version 2.2 offers extended and improved management and configuration facilities which deliver further improvements in speed of use, reliability and operator efficiency.

Faster Reload

Already renowned for the speed with which full operation is achieved after power up, with the 2.2 update STAGETEC has made the console boot process in AURUS even faster with reconfigured data storage within the console. Now, the current statuses of the console and the signal processors are stored to the console’s controller board in case of power failure instead of to the memory server as with previous versions. This allows the status of the console to be restored even more quickly when power is up again. In addition, the controller board now allows for storing six different console configurations on it, that can be quickly loaded on a button-press. In practice, this feature increases the working speed again and provides additional independence from the memory server.

Parameter Import and Export

Improved flexibility in the storage of console statuses now allows for exporting just a single parameter, e.g. EQ, Dynamics or both. This permits a new console configuration to include previously stored parameter statuses, giving considerably improved flexibility and speed of use when setting up a new project.

Snapshot Automation with SnapMix

Another luxury enhancement is the addition of SnapMix to the snapshot automation. SnapMix allows for recording complex audio-source movements, creative fadeovers, or other intricate effects in AURUS using the dynamic automation. The previously programmed effects can be replayed at any time on the press of a button regardless of the presence of an external timecode: The internal high-precision generator of the AURUS is used as sync reference.

Now Available

The new software version 2.2 is already implemented in all AURUS systems shipped in May 2005 and is available free of charge to all existing AURUS operators.
