Premiere at the IBC: DELEC Presents MADI Interface for Oratis Intercom System
Göllheim, September 2004: DELEC, German manufacturer of digital intercom systems, introduced a new MADI board to its Oratis intercom system at this year’s IBC. The board features up to 64 active channels and provides for multichannel connections from external digital devices to Oratis. The new interface board was presented for the first time in Amsterdam and is on sale from now on.
The new MADI board supports duplex audio lines and offers simple connection between Oratis and external devices such as mixing consoles or a NEXUS audio network. The integrated sample rate converter ensures reliable processing of all sources regardless of their respective sample rate or word clock. The 64 channels of each MADI board can be activated groups of four channels. This allows for implementing customized solutions. Just like any other Oratis module, the new MADI interface supports hot-swapping.
This year, DELEC was again co-exhibiting with SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP, of which DELEC has been a member since 2002. Not only the MADI board but all the other Oratis and Centrix modules have been on display at the exhibition. Donald Dilocker, founder and managing director of DELEC, sums up the response of the IBC visitors: »The new MADI connectivity again enhances the application range of our Oratis,« he says. »While talking to our customers at the exhibition, we found that there is a major demand especially in the broadcasting area for a multichannel interface like this. It eases the connection between the sources of a central switching room to the intercom system of a big broadcasting station, just to mention one of the many possible applications.«
