AES Convention 2003 - C.A.S. MIX 64

C.A.S. MIX 64 now in Two Versions

The recently released C.A.S. MIX 64 was one of the attractions at the SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP corporate stand at this year's AES Convention. Offering a high degree of modularity and flexibility, this digital 64-bus console is intended for theatre, broadcasting, and complex sound-reinforcement applications. Though only introduced a month or so ago, there are already significant enhancements to the console.

As of now, C.A.S. MIX 64 is available in two versions. The new theatre version features a meter bridge at a shallow angle. The reduced console height improves the view onto the stage. In broadcasting applications users prefer a more upright display. This configuration helps maintain an ideal view of the TFT metering displays without reflections, even in brightly lit studios.

The theatre version also benefits from a major software development introduced at the AES Convention - Automation specifically designed for theatres and other scene-based performances. This is based on a programmable sequence of snapshots that can be loaded at the press of a button. Cross fade parameters, from current console settings to a loaded snapshot, can be pre-programmed.

The new console attracted a lot of attention at the show. Visitors from many different pro-audio disciplines were interested and considered using it for applications ranging from events, outside broadcasts, radio installations and in-house production to theatre.

C.A.S. Mix 64 is already a great success. Ten units have already been shipped, and a further one will shortly be installed.
