AES Convention 2003 - DELEC
DELEC Intercom with Phone Connectivity
At this year's AES Convention in Amsterdam, the German manufacturer DELEC introduced several major new features for their IC48 MK II digital intercom system.
The new 2-channel IC48-DC400 telephone hybrid board provides a significant increase in flexibility. This option enables the intercom matrix to be extended over a telephone line to any phone in the world. Operationally, the user simply dials the phone number on the numeric keypad of a subscriber unit. The remote telephone will then be integrated into the intercom matrix. Alternatively, an authorised person can dial into the intercom system and create a connection to any subscriber unit.
A further innovation enhances control options and ease of use. Full remote control and status monitoring of the subscriber units is now possible from a personal computer via a new software extension. This is especially useful in outside broadcast where configurations and personnel vary between projects. The LCD key legends can be programmed and subscriber units can be remotely operated for checking purposes. Functions can also be demonstrated to users who may be unfamiliar with the system. A simple key press on the PC lights up the relevant key on the subscriber unit and invokes the function. All this can be achieved at a distance, e..g. from an O.B. van.
DELEC presented their range of products on the large SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP corporate stand, using the Convention to demonstrate their new affiliation to the syndicate.
