AURUS Concept
Components
The RMD DSP boards are installed as additional boards in the STAR router. Here too, connectivity is provided via a star-topology NEXUS STAR bus. This makes the console inputs and outputs freely available on the overall system. DSP resources are distributed to the audio channels during the console-project configuration process. An additional RMD board can be specified to provide redundancy and therefore increased security.
AURUS offers two channel types for adapting the DSP resources to the project-specific requirements: full channels (fully-fledged audio channels) and short channels (reduced channels comprising key parameters, for example, for use as input channels, mix or group buses, or effects returns). The other channels (mixes, groups, aux, etc.) are also configured to suit their respective tasks.
The mixer section of the audio processor is controlled by a dedicated RMC controller board, which also provides for interconnection between the control and signal-processing components. Communication between the RMCU board and the consoles is via optical lines.
More interface ports (MIDI, serial) are available for applications such as controlling external machines. The centralized timecode management is also performed by the RMC board.
