Base Device

A NEXUS STAR base device is a 19" module frame with a 6-U capacity.
The RBP backplane has 21 slots in the standard 4-DU grid for accommodating NEXUS STAR module boards. 16 of these slots are provided for I/O boards with 256 I/O ports each, so 4,096 inputs can be routed to 4,096 outputs – altogether more than 16 million crosspoints.
