The Base Device bus system can route up to 256 different signals. The total number
of input signals on module boards and optical lines as well as output signals can
be even greater.
Signals are dynamically routed between Base Devices via fibre-optic connections.
There is no need for a dedicated signal path for each connection; rather, it is the
available routing capacity that sets the upper limit on the number of signals that
can be simultaneously routed.
NEXUS network capacity can be increased by the use of additional parallel
fibre-optic lines between Base Devices. Moreover, optical line redundancy
can be implemented on the NEXUS system for increased reliability.
