Integration of the
AURUS, CANTUS and CINETRA Mixing-Console Systems
The distributed concept, the flexible I/O formats and
the exceptional converters are powerful arguments for using the NEXUS
in conjunction with Stage Tec mixing-console systems. Therefore, the AURUS
direct-access console, the CANTUS free-control console system and the CINETRA
film and multi-format console directly interface with the NEXUS system.
The consoles not only make use of the NEXUS I/O resources,
but fully integrate with the system architecture of the audio network and routing
system. For example, the configuration computers built into the consoles can be used
to control the NEXUS. Frequently used NEXUS parameters — for example, the gain,
phase-inversion, and subsonic-filter settings of microphone boards, the status of
sample-rate converters on digital inputs, and the test-tone generator
routing — can be operated via dedicated keys on the console surface.
Multiple mixing-console systems integrated on an audio network can
share resources. This topology is not only cost-effective, since each console does
not require costly dedicated converters, but also allows for multiple utilization
of all signal sources. The vocalist microphone signal can be routed to
the monitor mixer, the FOH mixer, the OB truck and, in an unprocessed form, to a
MADI output feeding
a recording workstation.
The AURUS direct-access console is designed to provide a high channel count,
thus using the NEXUS STAR audio router provides an enormous routing capacity for
complex applications. Since the NEXUS STAR uses NEXUS Base Devices as distributed
I/O interfaces, all NEXUS audio components are also accessible to the AURUS.
