Several hundred NEXUS systems of various sizes, with more than a thousand Base Devices, have already been installed worldwide - for example, in film and radio studios, OB vans, theaters and convention centers, governmental buildings, and for live applications. In addition, there are numerous AURUS, CANTUS, and CINETRA installations where NEXUS systems are used as I/O interfaces and/or audio networks or routing systems. Recent large NEXUS installations normally implement the NEXUS STAR audio router.*

Broadcasting

Radio Vatican

Since the inauguration 70 years ago, Radio Vatican had been using their technical equipment without any changes, so it was really time for a renewal. The problems there were a lack of space and the fact that the field strength of the antenna pole was strong enough to induce noise in the analogue copper wires. Today, the NEXUS network comprising the production rooms and the control center allows for unspoiled signal transmission using fibre-optics - over a distance of three kilometers. more...

MDR Broadcasting Service

It is not only the futuristic architecture that distinguishes the new MDR TV center but also the state-of-the-art production and broadcasting equipment. A NEXUS network consisting of 21 Base Devices routes the audio between studios, control rooms, and on-air sound processors. more...

SWR Broadcasting Service

The large centralized control-center routing system for MADI signals was accomplished using a complex NEXUS system. This system networks six digital and seven analogue control rooms. More NEXUS audio networks have been deployed in the SWR broadcasting centers of Baden-Baden, Mainz, and Freiburg. more...

All India Radio

The All India Radio (AIR) government broadcasting service opted for NEXUS as their central audio network and routing system for networking the 27 radio studios housed in its new digital complex in New Delhi. An exciting switching-room concept was accomplished, consisting of ten separate Base Devices. Unlike in Europe, the radio studios are not directly connected to a control center but connect to each other and to the control center via five so-called control booths.
In addition to the NEXUS, AIR uses the MATRIX CONTROL software that has been developed by ASPA Madrid and is used by many private radio stations. This software allows, for example, for programming automated scheduled routing.

Cadena SER

After an extensive expansion, Spain‘s biggest private radio station Cadena SER urgently needed new control-center equipment. They opted for a NEXUS network consisting of six Base Devices. Two of these units are located in the main switching room and provide external connectivity while the other four connect the studio desks to the main switching room. The entire installation is configured and controlled from a NEXUS multi-user software that provides for exactly defining user-access levels and thus prevents from operating errors.
The additionally implemented DSP boards allow for limited signal processing independently of external mixing consoles; this allows, for example, for perfectly crossfading different inputs and outputs during operation. more...

RTL Television

When the Cologne-based RTL Television station refurbished their broadcasting center in 1997, they decided for a CANTUS/NEXUS system because of its widely known reliability. Not a bad choice as the system has been in use 20 hours a day since 1997 - mostly for live productions, for example, the main newscast. more...

tpc productioncenter zürich ag

The tpc productioncenter (a separated branch of the Swiss Broadcasting Service) possesses five digital O.B. vans that are all equipped with CANTUS mixing consoles and NEXUS routing systems. Each van is outfitted with two base devices, and there are more portable base devices available – flexibility is a top priority. At the Skiing World Cup at St. Moritz (Switzerland), for example, ten NEXUS base devices and a NEXUS STAR router – all rented from Stage Tec – were simply combined with base devices originating from the tpc‘s O.B. van fleet to form an audio network, and operation was smooth and simple. more...

Theatres and Operas

Bayerische Staatsoper (Bavarian State Opera)

After the old audio system had been in use for twenty years, the officials of the renowned Bavarian State Opera with its second-largest stage in Europe opted for a complete change: A NEXUS audio network comprising twelve Base Devices was implemented for flexibly routing the audio between the opera hall, the rehearsal room, and the production studio. more...

Nuovo Auditorium di Roma

Italy‘s star architect Renzo Piano designed one of the world‘s largest concert halls, the Nuovo Auditorium di Roma (New Concert Hall of Rome) to furnish the country with an appropriate place for classical music performances. With three concert halls able to accommodate audiences ranging from 750 to 2,700 people and an amphitheater with a capacity of 3,000 visitors, there will be stages for classical music events of all types and sizes. An extensive NEXUS system consisting of 34 Base Devices is used as audio network.

Stadttheater Bern (Municipal Theater Bern)

Not only sonic quality and operational convenience were key criteria when the audio system of the Stadttheater was completely revamped; even more important was the ability to switch between rehearsal and show settings in no time. As the theater had been built in 1899, monument preservation was an issue; however, the installation could comfortably be accomplished thanks to the use of optical fibres for networking. Another requirement was that the choir hall used for adding live audio to the main production should be integrated. CANTUS and NEXUS proved to be the only solution with a latency low enough to allow for live additions via the network whilst simultaneously monitoring in the choir hall what is going on in the main hall. more...

Konzerthaus Berlin (Berlin Concert Hall)

The real challenge of the audio-system redesign at Konzerthaus was the flexibility required when multiple radio stations want to record the same event. A complex CANTUS/NEXUS system turned out to be the adequate solution: Five Base Devices are distributed over the three main stages while the two in-house recording studios are equipped with one Base Device each. An extra mobile Base Device enhances flexibility.
