Standard PCs as Control Computers
Standard PCs running under the Microsoft Windows™ operating
system are used for control the audio system. The control computers
connect to the Base Device XCPU controller board via
a standard interface (RS 232 or USB). Laptop computers can also be used as portable
control computers.
Each connected PC can access the entire NEXUS audio network. The system can
be operated from a single computer and from all computers at the same time.
Control computers can be connected to or disconnected from Base Devices at any time — even
during operation — without affecting the system status. Changes
are only ever applied by deliberate action on the part of the user. The current settings
are stored within the NEXUS system independently of the control computers.
