A Variety of Interface Boards

Base Devices can be equipped with almost any combination of module boards that fit into the 4-DU (divided units) grid. For example, I/O boards for analogue and digital audio signals, audio-processing boards, special data-forwarding or routing boards, or fibre-optic interface boards for Base Device networking can be installed.

Cost-saving Expansion

Various boards feature detachable front panels. This allows more boards to be installed in a mainframe row than would normally be possible, for example, because of the number of XLR ports on the panel. Detached front panels can be installed on extra front-panel rows with or without XBP backplanes.
