Intercom System
C.A.S.
300 –
An Intercom and Alerting System Integrating With NEXUS
C.A.S. 300 Overview
- Maximum Security: all power amplifiers are monitored on a permanent
basis; signal routing is switched automatically when an error occurs; speaker lines
are monitored all the time; each speaker is monitored individually, etc.
- Maximum announcement synchronicity
- Expandable and modular
- Network based on fibre-optic lines
- Built around NEXUS
- Local intercom networks can be programmed ad lib
- Also supports audio functions
Communication
via NEXUS
Thanks to its superb networking capability, its flexible modular design
and the possibility of covering extremely long distances, NEXUS has become the
audio network of choice for large installations. The ease with which many Base Devices
with hundreds of inputs and outputs can be added never fails to impress. Hitherto,
trade fair facilities, convention centres, airports and public institutions
have relied on separate public address and alarm installations despite
the horrendous cost this approach entailed.
Building on the experience we gathered with our C.A.S. cueing and control
systems, the C.A.S. 300 System (»Computer Aided Sound Manager«) meets
the most stringent safety standards (for those applications), while it can be easily
added to existing NEXUS systems.
Consisting of C.A.S.-series hardware and software components, C.A.S. 300 represents
a logical and modular expansion of the NEXUS system, with several intercom stations
and power amplifiers as well as various systems that monitor the intercom network’s
status to ensure maximum reliability. All required audio and control signals are
transmitted and received via the fibre-optic cables already installed for the NEXUS
system — no separate wiring is necessary.
One C.A.S. 300 can handle up to 960 intercom stations and 3,840 caller groups. Devising
a tailor-made solution for each entity’s specific audio and intercom needs
has finally become a reality.
Applications
The C.A.S. 300 Digital Intercom System is aimed at complex intercom
networks where multiple intercom and audio cue lines are called for. Thanks to the
NEXUS audio router, one single system can handle announcements and emergency
paging as well as public address and audio cueing applications of the best possible
quality. Here, at last, is a system capable of handling a multitude of applications
at a quality level that satisfies even the most demanding professional — and
it’s highly cost-effective to boot.
Configuration
The C.A.S. system can be controlled and set up using dedicated configuration
software. Users can prepare the required presets for each individual
event beforehand.
The supplied configuration software is only needed for programming
the basic settings, something that can be done offline. The various NEXUS interface
cards and intercom stations store the settings you upload to the C.A.S. system. For
day-to-day operation, no PC is needed.
Scheduling Function Included
C.A.S. 300 always works just in time: thanks to a calendar function (scheduler)
built into the software, voice messages or music playouts can be triggered and local
intercom networks muted/added at pre-programmed times.
C.A.S.
Hardware
A C.A.S. 300 system can consist of various hardware units in almost any
required combination. By means of a CAS-1062 ProNexi interface, all standard
C.A.S. modules, like intercom stations, amplifier monitoring units
with line and single-speaker checking routines, etc., can be connected to the NEXUS
network according to the user’s specifications.
