Radio Television Malaysia switches over to AURUS
Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) in Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s
biggest and most important national broadcasting service and broadcasts
a 7/24-program
in four languages to the whole
Malaysian peninsula as well as to other Malaysian states on Borneo.
RTM has purchased two AURUS digital consoles for TV-news studios
in the Kuala Lumpur broadcasting house. The installation will be part
of a complete refurbishment of all studios
with up-to-date digital audio and video technology
The first AURUS will be installed in Studio 5 which supplies TV-news
program in Bahasa Malaysia and English languages, the second one will
go into Studio 4 mainly used for TV-news in Chinese and Indian languages.
Both desks are identically equipped with 24 faders and 28 audio channels
for easy switch over operation between the studios and maintenance.
The installation will be done in two steps starting with Studio 5,
allowing to use the other Studio for the production work. “This
means a significant challenge to us”, pinpoints David Chan, of
STAGETEC Malaysia, “as we have to ensure flawless changeover
under a very tight schedule”. To achieve this, all complementing
NEXUS audio network and cabling will be pre-installed, allowing to
connect AURUS later on with a single fibre line to the NEXUS and going
back on-air again within seconds. “It is one of the major advantages
of AURUS and NEXUS that audio networking can be done separately from
the installation of the console. Once the network is set up, connecting
the desk is no matter of time anymore”, Chan sums up.
