IBC 2006: New Software for AURUS and NEXUS
Amsterdam, September 2006: To SALZBRENNER
STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP, the IBC has once again shown the big interest in the AURUS digital
audio console – with about 50 units to be delivered just in 2006. “The
strong international character makes the IBC so important to us,” says managing
director Stephan Salzbrenner about the group’s appearance at the trade show. “Numerous
broadcasters and studios from all over the world and particularly many from Asia
this year visit us at the show to gather new facts on our products.”

The Mediagroup presented their latest version of their AURUS console.
The new version 2.6 adds many details to the proven functionality. Many of these
additions are based on customer suggestions: For example, a switching contact originally
used for controlling PFL (pushing the fader knob of an already closed channel strip
downwards beyond its stop) can now be used for accessing external devices. A customer
had asked for this for conveniently enabling an alert lamp before opening a microphone
channel. The automation keys now provide a similar functionality, too. Customers
who do not utilize the dynamic automation for example in live applications can use
the automation keys for signalling or other control purposes.

New software was also presented for the NEXUS digital routing system.
Key features of the new Matrix 5.2 control software are the highly convenient multichannel
metering options. Now, 48 instead of 24 signals can be viewed at the same time. Clicking
the meter, for example, of a microphone input will open a window where all relevant
parameters of that input are displayed and can be modified. This new functionality
is also available for output meters. Double-clicking an output meter will open the
interactive parameter window of the microphone input routed to that output. This
feature is useful in many scenarios where the levels of just a few microphone channels
are to be controlled.
Besides, the standard version as well as the new small single-unit
NEXUS version was on display in operation at the booth. The range of exhibited products
was completed by the TRIAGON theatre console and the ORATIS and CENTRIX intercom
systems by DELEC.
SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP gear was also in use outside
the exhibition halls. Belgium’s broadcaster RTBF presented two new HD OB vehicles
on the outdoor grounds. Both of these trucks are equipped with AURUS consoles and
NEXUS signal routers.
