AURUS wins the iF product design gold award
For the second time, SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP
have been awarded for the design of one of their mixing consoles
BUTTENHEIM, March 2006: On the first day of this year’s
CeBIT, the Golden iF Statuette for outstanding design achievement was awarded to
SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP for their AURUS digital mixing-console. Already last
year in November, it had become known that the AURUS was among the winning products
of the renowned iF product design award 2006. The additional Golden Award, which
is referred to as the “design Oscar”, was awarded to just 50 exceptional
products; besides the AURUS, winners include Apple’s Ipod Nano and the DSC-T7
digital camera by Sony.

AURUS received the coveted iF Seal for outstanding design in the
consumer electronics/telecommunications category after coming out on top against
a high-quality international competition. The AURUS product design was developed
by Arno Schünemann from Schünemann DesignSolutions, Berlin. Accompanied
by developer and audio engineer Harald Klaus from STAGETEC, Schünemann accepted
the Golden Award at the presentation at CeBIT. In 1997, he had already won the iF
product award for the CANTUS console.
According to this year’s theme “Less marketing – more
design”, the submitted products were judged on the basis of an extensive catalogue
of evaluation criteria. Decisive aspects included the design quality, workmanship,
choice of materials, degree of innovation, environmental friendliness, functionality,
ergonomics, visualisation of use, safety, and brand value/branding.
The AURUS digital mixing console provides a large number of controls
for instant access to audio parameters, which is one of the key factors of its exceptional
user friendliness. Optimum access to all controls and perfect readability of displays
and indicators ensure clear and intuitive operation. This and the outstanding material
quality and elegance met the jury’s requirements for a mainly user-oriented
layout.
This year, the 20 jurors – recognised design experts from
all over the world – judged almost 2,000 products from 37 countries in a number
of categories. Finally, 689 products in 12 categories were awarded the desired iF
award. All award-winning products will be displayed at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds
from March to September 2006.
The iF product design award is awarded every year by the iF
Industrie Forum Design Hannover. Since its inauguration in 1954, the award has become
a major international award for quality design. When it comes to design-oriented
product quality, the iF award has set standards; this is even more true for the Golden
iF Statuette which is a trademark of design excellence. |
