Japanese TV broadcaster Fuji TV selects
AURUS digital console
New MEDIAGROUP distributor in Japan General Traders
announces first AURUS sale to Japanese broadcaster
Buttenheim, April 2005: Japanese TV broadcaster Fuji TV has
selected the digital high-end console AURUS by SALZBRENNER STAGETEC
MEDIAGROUP to equip one of its recording studios in its Tokyo based
broadcasting centre. The sale to the top-ten private broadcaster was
agreed between the new MEDIAGROUP distributor General Traders and Fuji
TV in early 2005 and installation is scheduled to be finished soon
by week 15. Just a few weeks after having set up the partnership between
General Traders and the MEDIAGROUP, the contract marks the first sale
of AURUS into the Japanese broadcast market. Other MEDIAGROUP installations
in Japan comprise venues such as the New National Theatre in Tokyo
or the iMedio Centre, a business incubator for the multimedia industry.

Configured to Fuji TV’s requirements, the new AURUS will feature
40 channel strips on the control surface and a total DSP power of 168
audio channels plus 128 mix buses. A NEXUS audio network made up of
5 base devices complements the installation and provides for the huge
number of 220 multi format I/O’s including analogue ports, digital
AES/EBU and MADI. For maximum safety during on-air operation all components
are equipped with redundant power supply units and connected via redundant
fibre-optics. At Fuji TV AURUS is mainly dedicated for the use in post
production and recording but will also be in use for on-air mixing
during one of the most popular music programs in Japan called “Music
Fair”, which is broadcasted by Fuji TV once a week since 40 years.
“Since dual use for live mixing and production was intended,
Fuji TV was seeking for flexible equipment that adapts to both tasks”,
explains Tadayoshi Shiraishi, Managing Director of General Traders. “With
the combination of AURUS and NEXUS we were able to close the gap between
these two different applications and offer a perfect solution: Compatibility
to almost any digital or analogue format including SDI forwarding via
NEXUS, easy integration of supplementing equipment such as VTR or ProTools,
full dynamic and static automation for recording, extreme reliability
thanks to redundant layout and – last but not least – an
excellent sound quality!”, he continues.
The SALZBRENNER STAGETEC MEDIAGROUP, a consortium comprising three
companies, is one of the major system integrators in Europe and a leading
developer and manufacturer of high-quality digital audio products such
as NEXUS, AURUS, CANTUS and the C.A.S. product series. MEDIAGROUP installations
can be found at hundreds of venues throughout the world, in broadcast
stations, OB Trucks, theatres, government buildings and multipurpose
halls. Check www.stagetec.com for more information and a complete list
