New 8-Channel Analog-Output Board for
NEXUS
More channels and improved performance for connecting
analog devices
Berlin, November 2004: At this year’s Tonmeistertagung,
STAGETEC from Berlin has introduced XDA+, a new 8-channel D/A converter
board for their popular NEXUS audio router. The range of NEXUS output
boards is thus updated with a module supporting twice the number of
channels and featuring enhanced performance.
So far, the 4-channel XDA board and its XDA-F version (producing higher
output levels) have been available for NEXUS; compared to them, the
new board shows improved performance data: The dynamic range has been
enhanced from 126 dB(a) to 132 dB(a) while latency has been lowered
from 0.6 to less than 0.2 milliseconds. The maximum output level of
24 dBu now exceeds the current studio standard of 22 dBu supported
by the previous XDA version. In addition to these improvements on the
audio domain, power consumption has been optimized, too: The power
dissipation loss is just 5 watts for 8 channels instead of 4 watts
for 4 channels as in the previous XDA board. This allows for implementing
more boards per base device without causing overheating.
The standard version of the new board provides eight XLR connectors
to analog units; versions including RJ45 or D-Sub connectors instead
are optionally available. STAGETEC has found an elegant space saving
solution for mounting the 4 extra ports: All additional connectors
are supplied on an extra front panel that can be installed anywhere
into an empty place in the same base device. This allows for setting
up base devices supporting twice the number of channels without requiring
extra slots. |
