Great Coalition in Berlin
Everyone talks to everyone – regardless of political confession,
and all over the City of Berlin! This will be achieved using the »Technical
Network for Governmental Buildings« that will interconnect 15
official buildings in the German capital of Berlin. The Salzbrenner/Stage
Tec group will deliver NexPage, the heart of this network. NexPage
provides an intercom platform for all security forces and the police.
The network spanning distances of several kilometers is running
using NexPage, a customized development that enhances the possibilities
of NEXUS. To achieve highest reliability possible, all components
feature redundancy, and each unit is connected via two independent
signal paths. The Technical Network for Governmental Buildings
includes all kinds of buildings – from kindergartens to
the Reichstag.
Currently, this large project is under construction and is due
to be completed in the year 2000. Moreover, Salzbrenner is at
present installing more NEXUS and CANTUS systems combined with
C.A.S. components (Computer-Aided Sound Manager, Salzbrenner's
proprietary paging system) in various governmental buildings.
The Reichstag in particular will be furbished with plenty of
equipment:
Digital microphones featuring Stage Tec's patented TrueMatch A/D converters,
a large NEXUS router, and two CANTUS consoles will all be working within
the audio network and will be feeding the sound-reinforcement system. Again,
the highest level of reliability is achieved by making every audio module
redundant. Extensive self-test routines accounting every component – from
digital microphones to loudspeakers – will quickly return a diagnosis
in case of malfunctions. Various tests have already been conducted, proving
the system reliable.
