Signal Flow in a CANTUS/NEXUS System
The CANTUS console and the NEXUS audio network make up the overall system.
The signal flow from the input – for example, a recording microphone – to
an output – say, a mastering machine – allows for innovative
solutions compared to conventional systems; however, the standard scheme
is as follows:
- The outputs of the external devices are connected to NEXUS boards
accommodated in decentralized base devices.
- These resources that are available within the entire
NEXUS system are routed to the desired mixing-console input channels
using the CANTUS input matrix.
- Signal processing is performed in the audio channels.
As with analog desks, the processed signals can be routed to various
types of mix buses.
- The mix buses can be processed by audio-channel features
and are then fed to the NEXUS system via the CANTUS output matrix.
- Finally, the output signals are available at the NEXUS
outputs.
