Inputs and Outputs
The decentralised routing system of the AURATUS mixing console
consists
of NEXUS Base Devices that are interconnected using fibreoptic
cables. These Base Devices can be positioned wherever inputs
and outputs are required. Thus, external devices can be connected
to the inputs and outputs via short cables but are nevertheless available
anywhere on the system. The fibre-optic lines distribute audio
and data signals plus control and sync data.
The NEXUS system is highly scalable, making it even more customisable.
The entire NEXUS routing system can be controlled and configured
from decentralised PCs.
NEXUS Base Devices
NEXUS Base Devices are 19" rack mainframes with a height of
between
1U and 15U that house all boards specified by the customer.
The boards feature standard connectors on their front panels,
so Base Devices also double as connector bays.
Using NEXUS as an Extension Cable
Other boards are available, allowing for transparent serial data transmission
for external devices via the NEXUS fibre-optic network.
RS232, RS422/485, DMX, Timecode (LTC), and MIDI protocols are
currently
supported. These interfaces are necessary for controlling
external
machines.
Analogue Interfaces
Full NEXUS integration makes the excellent analogue-interface components
featuring Stage Tec's patented TrueMatch technology available
to the AURATUS. The following converter options are currently
available:
- XMIC 8-channel microphone converters: 32-bit resolution,
dynamic
range of 158 dB
- XADplus 8-channel A/D converters: 24-bit resolution, dynamic
range of 133 dB
- XDAplus 8-channel D/A converters: 24-bit resolution, dynamic
range of 131 dB
- HXAD and HXDA 16-channel highly integrated A/D and D/A converters
for fixed installations, fitted with multi-pin connectors
